Geastrales is an order of gasteromycetous fungi, commonly known as earthstars. It is critical to clarify that Geastrales are not plant diseases. These fungi are entirely saprotrophic, meaning they derive their nutrition from decaying organic matter rather than attacking living plant tissues.

As they are not pathogens, there is no causal agent or disease type associated with this order. They operate as decomposers, breaking down cellulose, lignin, and other complex organic materials found in the soil layer, which aids in the natural recycling of nutrients back into the ecosystem.

There are no agricultural crops affected by Geastrales. Their presence in a garden or field does not pose a threat to plant health, root systems, or yields.
