The Glaziellaceae family consists of distinct fungal organisms belonging to the Glomeromycota phylum. While they primarily function as endosymbionts, under specific environmental conditions, they can exert pathogenic pressure on plant hosts, potentially causing root dysfunction and secondary health decline in various agricultural crops.

The causative agents belong to the genus Glaziella, which produces unique sporocarps. These fungi are obligate endosymbionts that inhabit root tissues. Their pathogenicity is often linked to the disruption of normal root architecture, where massive colonization prevents efficient nutrient and water uptake by the host plant.
