In agronomic terms, it is crucial to clarify that this fungus is a saprotroph, not a phytopathogen. It does not infect or cause disease in any agricultural, horticultural, or garden plant species.
As a saprotrophic organism, its biological role is strictly confined to the decomposition of dead organic matter. It thrives by breaking down complex organic compounds in the soil, such as fallen leaves, wood debris, or straw.
