Hebelomina is a genus of fungi within the Strophariaceae family, which, under specific environmental conditions, can act as a pathogen affecting the root systems of various plant species. While primarily known for their roles in forest ecosystems, their presence in agricultural soil can cause significant physiological stress to crops, leading to reduced productivity and stunted growth.

The disease is caused by basidiomycete fungi that primarily colonize the rhizosphere. The type of infection is classified as a root-associated mycotic disease. Unlike aggressive pathogens that kill plants quickly, Hebelomina acts as a chronic stressor, gradually degrading the roots and limiting the plant's ability to absorb vital nutrients and water.

The host range of Hebelomina includes various woody plants, nursery stock, and occasionally perennial crops.
