The host range of this pathogen includes various deciduous species such as willow, aspen, alder, birch, and hazel. The fungus frequently targets stems and branches, establishing itself in the heartwood or sapwood, leading to the development of distinct rot patterns that compromise the integrity of the tree.
Key diagnostic features include the presence of resupinate or effused-reflexed fruiting bodies on the bark.
