Hysterostomella is a genus of ascomycetous fungi known for causing various fungal diseases on host plants, typically manifesting as localized lesions on foliage. As a specialized pathogen, it colonizes the surface of plant tissues, utilizing nutrients from the host and potentially causing localized cellular necrosis.

A wide variety of plants, particularly woody species and shrubs, serve as hosts for this fungus. The infection primarily impacts the leaves, which are essential for the plant's metabolic processes. In severe cases, the damage to the leaf tissue disrupts the plant's ability to perform photosynthesis efficiently, leading to weakened growth and vigor.
