Kalaharituber is a specialized fungal plant disease caused by the ascomycete fungus Kalaharituber pfeilii. This pathogen is unique due to its subterranean lifecycle, where it forms distinct fruit bodies underground, often associating with the root systems of specific plants in arid desert regions.
The primary hosts for this disease are plants belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, particularly desert-adapted cultivars.
