These fungi affect a variety of hosts, particularly woody plants, shrubs, and ornamental species. The infection is often host-specific or limited to certain plant families. By colonizing the green parts of the plant, the fungus disrupts normal physiological functions, primarily photosynthesis, which directly impacts the plant's metabolic activity and energy storage.
