The fungus Leptosphaeria leucadendri is an ascomycete pathogen known to cause leaf spot diseases in various plant species, particularly within the Proteaceae family. This pathogen typically targets the leaves, stems, and shoots of susceptible plants. It thrives in high-density plantings where air circulation is restricted. Under favorable conditions, the infection can spread rapidly, transitioning from individual spot formations to widespread blight across the affected plant specimen.
Symptoms appear as distinct lesions on the leaves, usually circular or irregular in shape, ranging from brown to dark grey in color.
