This pathogen typically targets woody perennials, including fruit trees and various ornamental species. It primarily colonizes the outer layers of the bark, but in humid environments, it can spread extensively across the stems and branches, disrupting the integrity of the plant's epidermis and potentially hindering gas exchange.
