These pathogens predominantly target evergreen and perennial plant species, particularly those in warmer, humid environments. Unlike some aggressive pathogens that penetrate deeply into plant tissues, Micropeltidales often establish themselves on the leaf surface, forming thin, shield-like fruiting bodies known as thyriothecia that are characteristic of this taxonomic group.
