Miltidea is a fungal disease affecting various plant species, caused by pathogens within the genus Miltidea. These fungi are classified as ascomycetes and are known for their ability to invade and colonize plant tissues, leading to systemic decline if left unmanaged.
This pathogen primarily targets deciduous trees, shrubs, and certain ornamental plants. Infection typically occurs through microscopic wounds on leaves or stems, or by entering through the plant's natural stoma, allowing the fungus to establish itself within the host's cellular structure.
Symptoms of Miltidea include the appearance of distinct, dark-colored lesions that gradually expand across the foliage. Over time, these spots develop fungal reproductive structures, which serve as a source for further infection and lead to chlorosis and premature defoliation of the affected plant.
The development and spread of Miltidea are highly dependent on environmental conditions, particularly high humidity and moderate temperatures. The fungus releases spores that are easily dispersed by wind, splashing rain, or contact with contaminated tools, enabling the disease to spread rapidly through nurseries and orchards.

Prevention measures involve strict sanitation, such as pruning and burning infected plant material, alongside the application of preventative fungicides to inhibit spore germination during high-risk seasons.
