The economic impact of the disease is significant, as it leads to physiological stress in the trees, reduced fruit set, and overall yield decline. By colonizing the vascular tissues and stems, the fungus disrupts the transport of nutrients and water, often causing dieback in young branches and weakening the tree's immune response to other stressors.
