Biologically, this fungus serves as a decomposer within the ecosystem. It thrives in soil rich in organic matter, rotting wood, or leaf litter. The visual characteristics of the fungus include a distinctive fruiting body that begins as a white, egg-like structure before expanding into a hollow, slender, orange-red stalk.
