Neocosmospora warna is a filamentous fungal pathogen belonging to the Nectriaceae family. It is recognized as a significant agent responsible for vascular wilt diseases in various agricultural crops, impacting their physiological processes and overall crop yield potential.
This fungus primarily attacks plants in the Solanaceae family, as well as legumes. It acts as a soil-borne pathogen, infiltrating the roots of the host plant. Once inside, it rapidly colonizes the xylem tissues, obstructing the transport of water and nutrients, which ultimately results in the wilting and eventual death of the plant tissue.
Key symptoms of an infection include severe chlorosis, drooping of leaves, and general stunted growth.
