Neocucurbitaria cava is a pathogenic fungus known to infect a wide range of agricultural and ornamental plants. Belonging to the order Pleosporales, this pathogen is characterized by its ability to survive for long periods in crop debris, making it a persistent challenge for modern agricultural practices and soil management.

The host range of this fungus includes various members of the Cucurbitaceae family, as well as multiple vegetable and grain crops. It typically attacks both the above-ground foliage and the root system, leading to systemic weakness of the host plant and a substantial reduction in both the quality and quantity of the harvest.
