This pathogen primarily infects cruciferous crops and several other herbaceous plants. The fungus typically invades the plant through stomata or mechanical injuries, eventually colonizing the intercellular spaces. Once established, it derives nutrients from the host, compromising the structural integrity of the stems and leaves.

Initial symptoms include the emergence of reddish-brown spots, which gradually expand and darken. Protection strategies should focus on integrated pest management (IPM), including the use of certified disease-free seeds, strict adherence to crop rotation intervals, and the judicious application of systemic fungicides to curb the infection during the early stages.
