The fungus primarily impacts the rose family (Rosaceae). It attacks various parts of the plant, including leaves, stems, and reproductive structures, causing localized cell death. Young, vigorously growing plants and stressed mature bushes are often the most susceptible hosts for this type of infection.

In terms of symptoms, the disease manifests as distinct necrotic spots on leaves, which gradually darken to brown or black.
