Neospermospora blight is a fungal plant disease caused by the Neospermospora genus, which primarily acts as a pathogen attacking cereal crops. This disease interferes with the normal development of the plant by affecting foliage health and reducing the overall photosynthetic capacity of the crop, leading to significant yield losses in favorable conditions.

The primary hosts for this pathogen include various cereal species, such as wheat and barley. The fungus targets leaf tissues, where it establishes itself and begins to disrupt cell integrity. Without proper management, the infection spreads from the lower leaves upwards, causing physiological stress throughout the entire plant system during the critical grain-filling phase.

Symptoms initially appear as small chlorotic spots that gradually develop into dark, necrotic lesions.
