Oidium indicum is a fungal pathogen classified as a causal agent of powdery mildew. This obligate parasite thrives by extracting nutrients from the epidermal cells of host plants. As a specialized pathogen, it occupies a specific niche in plant pathology, often becoming a limiting factor for healthy plant development in susceptible populations.

This pathogen impacts a broad array of agricultural and ornamental crops. It is particularly known for attacking vegetables, legumes, and several ornamental species.
