Paraphoma chlamydocopiosa is a fungal pathogen responsible for causing paraphoma-related diseases in various plant species. This pathogen is known for its ability to survive in soil and organic matter, making it a persistent threat in agricultural environments where the same crops are grown consecutively without proper rotation.

The disease primarily affects the root systems and lower stems, although it can spread to aerial parts of the plants under favorable conditions. It functions as a necrotrophic pathogen, feeding on the tissues of the host plant and releasing enzymes that dissolve cell walls, leading to the formation of necrotic lesions and subsequent plant tissue death.
