Passalora is a genus of fungi that causes various leaf spot diseases in numerous plant species. These fungi are obligate or facultative parasites that target the foliage, causing significant tissue damage. As a pathogen, Passalora thrives by invading the stomata or epidermal cells of leaves, leading to chlorosis and subsequent necrosis.

The host range of these pathogens is quite broad, impacting economically important crops such as tomatoes, beans, and various horticultural species. In many cases, these diseases are misidentified as common leaf spots, which can lead to inadequate treatment and severe crop loss in both field and greenhouse environments.
