Petunia asteroid mosaic is a plant viral disease caused by the Petunia asteroid mosaic virus (PAMV), a member of the Tombusvirus genus. This pathogen is known for its ability to infect various herbaceous plants, causing significant economic losses in horticultural and agricultural sectors. Sweet pepper is among the susceptible crops that can suffer from severe infections.

The virus is primarily transmitted through mechanical means, such as contact with contaminated tools, hands, or through the overlapping foliage of infected and healthy plants.
