The Phacidiaceae family comprises a group of ascomycetous fungi known for causing significant damage to various forest and ornamental tree species. These pathogens are primarily recognized for causing needle cast diseases, which significantly impact the photosynthetic capacity of conifers. By attacking the foliage, these fungi interfere with the plant's metabolic processes and overall vitality.

The primary host plants include various species of pines, spruces, and junipers.
