It colonizes the surface of living leaves, utilizing them primarily as a substrate for growth in humid environments.

The organism is typically found in tropical and subtropical regions, colonizing evergreen broad-leaved plants. While it does not directly feed on plant tissues like parasitic pathogens, it acts as an epiphyte. The primary biological concern is its role in interfering with the physiological processes of the leaf by obscuring light and obstructing gas exchange through the stomata.
