This disease is widespread across many agricultural and horticultural crops.

The host range of this pathogen is remarkably vast, affecting everything from fruit trees like apples, pears, and citrus to various shrubs, ornamental flowers, and vegetables. The fungus primarily targets foliage, but under favorable conditions, it can also infect succulent stems, petioles, and occasionally fruit, causing significant cosmetic and structural damage.

The characteristic sign of the infection is the appearance of necrotic spots on leaves. Rain splashes and wind currents effectively disperse spores throughout the canopy. The fungus overwinters primarily in infected fallen leaves, plant debris, or on the surfaces of infected twigs and stems, ready to reinfect new growth in the spring.
