The host range of this pathogen is extensive, affecting economically important crops such as citrus, cotton, cacao, eucalyptus, and various vegetable species. The infection can manifest in multiple parts of the plant, including leaves, stems, flowers, and fruits, often leading to rapid tissue necrosis and systemic collapse of the plant.
Typical symptoms include the development of dark, water-soaked lesions on the plant surface. Under humid conditions, these lesions expand rapidly and may exhibit a fine, white, fuzzy growth consisting of sporangia and mycelia. Infected root systems often turn brown and decay, leading to wilting and eventually the death of the entire plant.
