Phytophthora fallax is a species of oomycetes known as a plant pathogen responsible for causing phytophthora blight in certain woody species. It functions as a destructive agent, interfering with the plant's vascular systems and leading to systemic necrosis.
The primary hosts of this pathogen are trees within the Eucalyptus genus. Its impact is most frequently observed in forest nurseries and plantation settings, where environmental conditions can favor the rapid spread of the fungus-like organisms among susceptible young and mature trees.
Symptoms of the infection include chlorosis, leaf spots, and the dieback of terminal shoots. As the infection progresses, lesions may appear on the stems, often resulting in significant tissue decay.
