The host range of this pathogen is primarily associated with specific tree species, which are susceptible to the destructive effects of the disease under stress conditions. The infection usually originates from the soil, where the pathogen persists in the form of resting structures. Once the conditions are favorable, it aggressively attacks the host, potentially leading to rapid wilting and eventual death of the affected specimen.
Key symptoms of an infection include root decay, necrotic lesions on the bark, and canopy thinning. Affected trees often exhibit yellowing leaves, lack of vigor, and significant crown dieback.
