Plurivorosphaerella is a genus of ascomycetous fungi responsible for causing necrotic leaf spot diseases in a wide range of woody plants and shrubs. As a member of the Mycosphaerellaceae family, this pathogen causes significant physiological stress to host plants, leading to reduced photosynthetic efficiency and diminished overall vitality.

The disease is classified as a foliar fungal infection. The pathogen, Plurivorosphaerella, establishes itself within the leaf tissue by forming pseudothecia, which are microscopic fruiting bodies. These structures rupture the host's epidermis, causing localized necrosis that manifests as distinct spots, which eventually merge as the infection progresses across the leaf surface.

Various tree species, particularly those in the genus Eucalyptus, are known hosts for this fungus. It is frequently encountered in forest nurseries and botanical gardens where dense plant arrangements and high humidity facilitate the dispersal of fungal spores from infected leaves to healthy ones through water splashes or wind.

Symptoms typically appear as small, chlorotic lesions that transform into dark brown or black necrotic spots over time. In many cases, these spots develop a visible halo or dark margins.
