Description

Pathogen and disease type. The disease is caused by the fungus Pseudocercospora carpentariae, which belongs to the class Ascomycetes. It is a pathogenic microorganism that induces cercospora leaf spot, which severely impacts the photosynthetic capacity and overall health of susceptible plant species.

Host plants and symptoms. The primary host of this pathogen is the Carpentaria acuminata palm. The initial symptoms appear as distinct spots on the leaf blades that gradually darken and become necrotic, eventually leading to chlorosis, premature yellowing, and tissue death.
