The primary host for this pathogen is the common myrtle (Myrtus communis). The disease is most frequently observed in commercial nurseries, botanical collections, and indoor environments where restricted airflow and stable high-humidity conditions facilitate the colonization and reproduction of the fungus.

Symptoms typically begin as small, discolored spots on the leaf surface, which gradually expand into brown or dark-brown lesions. Under high humidity, one may observe the development of fungal spores on the underside of the leaves, often appearing as a fine, olive-greyish layer that signals active sporulation of the pathogen.
