The causative agent of this disease is the fungus Pseudocercospora tereticornis, an ascomycete pathogen responsible for significant foliar damage. The disease primarily affects various species of the genus Eucalyptus. While mature trees can tolerate a certain level of infestation, young saplings in nurseries and intensive plantations are highly susceptible. Symptoms typically manifest as necrotic spots on the leaves.
