Pseudorobillarda leaf spot is a fungal disease caused by pathogens of the genus Pseudorobillarda. This type of infection typically manifests as necrotic spots on the leaves and stems of various plant species. As an opportunistic pathogen, it predominantly targets weakened or stressed plants, particularly in environments where moisture levels are consistently high.
The disease affects a wide range of hosts, including ornamental shrubs and certain herbaceous plants. The fungus survives in crop debris and leaf litter, which serves as the primary inoculum source for subsequent growing seasons. The spread is primarily facilitated by splashing water, wind-borne spores, and contaminated gardening equipment, which helps the fungus disperse throughout the field or nursery.
Symptoms typically begin as small, discolored spots that gradually enlarge and take on a brown or grey necrotic center.
