The disease progresses through the development of specialized spore structures that emerge through the plant's epidermis. These pustules contain thousands of spores, which are disseminated by wind, rain, and mechanical contact. Understanding the biology of Puccinia bartholomaei is crucial for agricultural professionals, as the pathogen’s ability to survive in various forms makes it a persistent threat in suitable environments.
