The host range of Puccinia paulensis primarily includes members of the Asteraceae family, most notably plants of the Vernonia genus. Its life cycle involves the production of distinct spore stages, which allow the fungus to persist and thrive in specific ecological niches, particularly in tropical environments where the host plants are most abundant.
