Quambalaria is a genus of pathogenic fungi that causes severe infections in various tree species, most notably in eucalyptus plantations worldwide. As a significant phytopathogen, it primarily affects the foliage and young succulent stems, leading to severe physiological stress and potentially compromising the overall health of forest ecosystems.

The primary hosts for Quambalaria are species within the Eucalyptus genus, including many commercially important varieties used for timber and pulp production. The disease is particularly destructive in nurseries and young plantations where high plant density allows the pathogen to spread efficiently from one individual to another, causing substantial economic losses.

Symptoms of Quambalaria infection include leaf blight, necrotic spots, and the dieback of shoots. A defining characteristic of the disease is the presence of white, powdery growth on the undersides of leaves, which consists of masses of fungal conidia. These symptoms often lead to premature leaf drop and the stunted growth of affected trees.
