Rose-colored Rhizopogon (Rhizopogon roseolus) is a basidiomycetous fungus known primarily as a mycorrhizal associate. However, in specific silvicultural contexts, such as forest nurseries, it can exhibit detrimental effects on young conifer seedlings, necessitating professional management.

The fungus primarily impacts the root systems of various Pinaceae species. While it often facilitates nutrient uptake, excessive colonization can disrupt the normal physiological function of the root hairs, potentially leading to seedling stress or mortality under adverse environmental conditions.

Symptoms of infestation include the presence of clusters of pinkish fruiting bodies emerging from the soil near the base of the plant.
