Russula queletii is a mushroom species often misinterpreted as a plant pathogen. In reality, it is a mycorrhizal fungus that forms a symbiotic relationship with coniferous tree roots, particularly spruce. It does not cause plant diseases, and its presence is generally beneficial to forest health.

The fungus operates as a biological partner rather than an infectious agent. Its mycelium colonizes the rhizosphere, assisting host trees in nutrient and water uptake.
