The order Russulales encompasses a diverse group of fungi that are widely distributed in forest ecosystems. The biological mechanism involves the hyphae of the fungus interacting with the host plant's root system. This association facilitates a bidirectional exchange: the fungi provide the host with essential nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen, while the plant supplies the fungi with carbohydrates produced through photosynthesis.
