Sporormiella is a genus of fungi belonging to the family Sporormiaceae, primarily known as coprophilous and saprotrophic organisms. In agricultural environments, these fungi are frequently associated with the decomposition of plant residues and organic matter, occasionally appearing on crops that have been weakened by environmental stressors or physiological disorders.

The causative agent belongs to the Ascomycota division. While not typically considered a primary aggressive pathogen of healthy, vigorous plants, its presence can serve as a biological indicator of high moisture levels and decaying plant debris, which may facilitate the colonization of weakened tissues by other, more harmful pathogens.
