Description

The disease is caused by the fungus Stemphylium eturmiunum, a significant phytopathogen that causes localized necrosis on various plant species. This fungal infection results in the formation of spots, which negatively impact the photosynthetic capacity of the foliage and can lead to premature leaf senescence and yield reduction.

The host range of Stemphylium eturmiunum is broad, affecting multiple economically important crops such as onions, garlic, tomatoes, and other solanaceous vegetables. It is particularly problematic in intensive production systems where high humidity and density contribute to rapid disease progress during the growing season.

Initial symptoms manifest as small, yellowish or light-colored lesions on the leaves.
