The biological nature of this fungus is strictly saprotrophic. It utilizes carbon-rich substrates, such as charred wood, ash, and scorched soil, to sustain its life cycle. By breaking down complex organic compounds resulting from combustion, it acts as a decomposer, contributing to the gradual restoration of soil nutrient cycles in disturbed areas.
