Terriera is a fungal disease affecting various plant species, specifically caused by the Terriera genus of fungi. This pathogen primarily targets foliage and needles, causing necrotization and premature shedding of the plant's photosynthetic organs. It is considered a significant threat in forestry and ornamental plant nurseries where host density is high.

The disease mechanism involves the colonization of the host's epidermal tissues by the fungal mycelium. By secreting enzymes, the fungus breaks down cellular integrity, leading to the formation of characteristic spots and lesions. Over time, these lesions spread across the leaf surface, severely compromising the plant's ability to undergo photosynthesis and store energy for the dormant season.

Visual signs of infection include chlorotic spots that eventually turn brown or black as the tissue dies. Upon closer inspection, one may find small, dark fruiting bodies protruding from the necrotic surface. In humid conditions, the foliage may look dampened or rotted, and the structural integrity of the needles or leaves becomes significantly weakened, making them susceptible to secondary pests.
