Tetragoniomycetaceae is a family of basidiomycetous fungi belonging to the order Tetragoniomycetales. While members of this family are often described as mycoparasites or epiphytes, in an agronomic context, their presence on plants can lead to physiological disorders and secondary infections, ultimately reducing the quality and marketability of agricultural products.

The disease is caused by microscopic fungi that typically parasitize other fungal organisms already affecting the host plant or develop directly on the surface tissues. This type of disease is classified as mycoparasitism or superficial epidermal damage, which compromises the plant's overall immune system.
