Thyrea (Latin: Thyrea) is a genus of fungi that includes pathogenic species capable of affecting various plant types, including certain lichen species and higher plants in specific ecosystems. In an agronomic context, this genus is classified as an agent causing fungal infections that disrupt the normal metabolism of host plant tissues.

The primary pathogens are microscopic ascomycete fungi belonging to the order of lichenized or closely related forms. The disease is infectious and spreads primarily through spores, infecting the epidermis and deeper tissue layers, leading to degenerative processes within the plant organism.

Key symptoms include localized necrosis, discoloration of the leaf blade to brown or black, and the development of characteristic crusts or outgrowths on the stems.
