This fungus typically impacts forestry crops and ornamental trees, particularly in nursery environments where high plant density and constant irrigation are maintained. Its presence is often difficult to detect in the early stages, as the initial infection occurs underground, directly attacking the fine root hairs responsible for nutrient and moisture uptake.

Symptoms of an infection include a gradual decline in the plant's health, characterized by yellowing of foliage, stunted growth, and sudden wilting.
