Tricholoma subglobisporum is a fungal species recognized in agricultural research as a potential pathogen affecting the root systems of various plant species. While primarily studied in the context of forest ecology, its presence in managed environments can lead to significant physiological stress in crops, resulting in stunted development and increased vulnerability to other opportunistic infections.

The pathogen primarily causes root decay and associated vascular dysfunction. By infiltrating the subterranean plant organs, the mycelium disrupts the plant's ability to transport essential nutrients and water from the soil to the shoots, eventually leading to a systemic decline in health and productivity.

Key symptoms of an infestation include leaf chlorosis, progressive wilting, and a noticeable reduction in crop biomass. Below ground, the roots often exhibit browning and fragmentation.
