Vialaea is a genus of fungi recognized in plant pathology as a pathogen responsible for specific bark and tissue necrosis in various woody plant species. These fungi are capable of colonizing the stems and branches of trees, leading to impaired vascular function and tissue death.

The disease is characterized as a cortical necrosis. The pathogen typically enters the plant via wounds, natural cracks in the bark, or pruning cuts. Once established, the mycelium spreads through the cambium and xylem, effectively disrupting the nutrient transport system of the host plant.
