Amazone Catros

Purpose and Design Features

Amazone Catros is a series of compact disc harrows designed for intensive shallow soil cultivation, efficient shredding of crop residues, and seedbed preparation. The equipment operates at depths ranging from 3 to 14 cm, making it a versatile tool for stubble cultivation and incorporation of organic fertilizers. The design is based on a frame with individual disc mounting on spring-loaded elements, ensuring ground contour following and protection of components from stones.

Working Tools and Quality of Cultivation

The core of the machine consists of serrated discs with a diameter of 460 mm (for models 3001/3501) or 510 mm (for 3003-7003). The disc angle is optimized for intensive soil mixing, ensuring uniform working depth even at high speeds — up to 18 km/h. The spherical shape of the discs allows for efficient cutting of the soil profile, while the high rotational frequency facilitates excellent clod breaking.

Contour Following System

A key advantage of the Catros is the independent suspension of each disc on elastic rubber buffers. This design serves as both a safety mechanism against obstacles and allows each disc to precisely follow the micro-relief of the field. Unlike rigid frame structures, the Catros maintains a consistent working depth even on uneven terrain.

Roller Options

Aggregating with various types of rollers allows the tool to be adapted to specific soil conditions. The quick-change roller system allows for an optimal selection: from knife rollers for crushing green manure to double U-profile rollers, which provide intensive soil reconsolidation and create an optimal structure for weed germination.

Hydraulics and Aggregation

Catros models are available in mounted (3 to 4 meters wide) and semi-trailed (up to 12 meters wide) versions. Depth adjustment is performed hydraulically directly from the tractor cab, significantly reducing setup time between fields. The integrated chassis on trailed versions improves maneuverability and reduces the load on the tractor's three-point hitch during transport.

Operational Reliability

All disc bearing assemblies feature maintenance-free cassette seals, eliminating the need for daily lubrication. This significantly reduces downtime and extends the machine's service life in high-dust environments. Robust axial components withstand heavy loads when working in dense or stony soils.
